10 Books to Become the Leader God Needs You to Become
Essential reading for the modern Christian man.
Many of you have asked me for book recommendations for men trying to develop their masculinity in a way that is compatible with the Christian faith.
In my years of being on the self-improvement path, I’ve read tons of books, some great, some decent and lots of them bad. I decided to compile 10 personal favorites on this list, all of which serve the purpose of helping you develop into a worthy masculine leader, so you can lead your own life, your family, and your community properly.
Some of the books are mainstream, some are pretty unknown, but by reading all of them you will build a solid foundation upon which you can start building your own identity as a masculine man under Christ.
What the world needs the most right now is strong, God-fearing men who can inspire and lead others by becoming examples of virtue, excellence, faith, and integrity. All of these books will serve that purpose and help you become one of these new leaders.
The Imitation of Christ, by Thomas à Kempis
We need to start by learning about the perfect man, Jesus Christ. There is no real masculinity without Christ, and The Imitation of Christ is a reminder of that. This book serves as the foundation of the character you ought to be pursuing. If we don’t seek to imitate Jesus with all our hearts, we will place other influences at the center of our lives and end up losing our souls.
“As long as you live, you will be subject to change, whether you will it or not - now glad, now sorrowful; now pleased, now displeased; now devout, now undevout; now vigorous, now slothful; now gloomy, now merry. But a wise man who is well taught in spiritual labor stands unshaken in all such things, and heeds little what he feels, or from what side the wind of instability blows.”
With the example of Christ at the center of our lives, we can move on to the next book, and put into more practical terms how a man should act in the modern world, and most importantly, who a man should be in troubling times like ours.
