I know sometimes life can be overwhelming. As men, it can feel as though we carry the weight of the entire world upon our shoulders, and it’s not easy to bear the burden of our own expectations, responsibilities, hopes and dreams, as well as our often failed attempts to endure it all without ever letting those closest to us see any signs of our struggle.
This life God gave us is a wonderful gift, and it’s sad how often we forget to be grateful, joyful, and hopeful. It’s normal to struggle, and there will always be suffering here. We come, after all, from an unbroken chain of wounds and sin. The perfection of this world was broken almost as soon as it was created by our own pride and weakness, and we introduced darkness into a world that was meant to be just light.
But even then, even within this broken world, there’s no reason why we cannot remember Our Savior’s promises of eternal life, and experience a fragment of the joy of heaven right here on earth.
It starts by remembering that we don’t carry our cross alone. No amount of mundane worries can break you, as long as you let Jesus help you up the hill. When you feel like you can’t, He can. All it takes is for you to ask for His help.
All we can do is our best. All we can do is keep going, keep trying, keep getting up and giving our all, trying to bring some light to these often dark times.
The world needs you at your best. God needs you at your best. All those small things that you sometimes don't know if they're working, I promise you, they are. All the effort you’re putting in, all the sacrifices you’re making, will be rewarded. Even if the world doesn’t seem to see them or care, God does.
Even if you don't see the results manifested yet, and even if you feel as though your efforts are not recognized, I want to tell you that you are doing good. The sacrifice and the struggle are worth it.
Please don't give up. Please don't stop trying. Please don't lose hope. Get up, again and again after you stumble and fall. God is with you. And the world needs men like you.
Good wins in the end. It always does.
But you, take courage! Do not let you hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded.
