What on earth are you waiting for?
You sit there and choose to wait, again. You say the time is not yet the right one. You say tomorrow is the day you’ll start. You make up a thousand excuses to let another day pass you by, unclaimed. Second after second, minute after minute, and day after day, you become just a little bit older. A little bit grayer. You lose more of your vitality. Every day that passes, it becomes harder to shake yourself off your slumber.
This is your life man. Right here, right now. Tomorrow is an unconquerable vision, yesterday has no bearing to who you choose to be now, which is what matters most. There’s nothing else but this instant you are living, and time and time again, you are letting yourself down and choosing to give in to your weakness.
Are you really telling me that you need to “rest” after a long day of sitting down at your computer? Are you really going to postpone your dreams because you want to “relax” and “chill”? Is it really true that the reason you are not where you want to be is because you keep choosing “balance”? Or is the grim reality the fact that you cannot get your own cowardice under control, and keep choosing the comfort of safety over the necessary pain that will bring you to life?
We are not meant to wait so much. Sometimes, waiting is the right choice. Sometimes, God demands it from us. But God doesn’t want you to wait for your entire life, and justify your lack of action by claiming to be “tired”. At least, I don’t believe He does.
Maybe you are tired. I know I am too. Not physically tired, but spiritually, mentally. I know it’s hard to keep your soul alive throughout it all. But there’s no rest for us. Not yet, at least. There is too much at stake.
You can’t even begin to fathom how much more you could be, how much weight you can carry, how much fire runs through your veins.
So I’m here to tell you that you are not tired. You don’t need to rest. What you need is to become the worst enemy of everything that makes you weak, passive and lazy. What you need is to become unstoppable, relentless, stubbornly committed to the vocation you have chosen, to not be satisfied by anything but continuous, purposeful, action. What you need is to surrender entirely to the purpose of your life, which is answering God’s calling, and dedicating your every effort to becoming the man He needs you to be.
You are a man. And men have always been restless, and this restlessness, combined with bold action, is what built the world as we know it.
Now we rest under the shadows of men much greater than us, and we let the world decay because the flame that once lighted our souls has been replaced by the most disgusting of passiveness.
Do whatever it takes to light the wildfire you once harbored. Let it consume you to the point of near insanity, let it burn so hot that it forces you out of comfort and into risk and danger.
Let it light within you the ancient spirit of the great conquerors, the leaders, the builders, the explorers, the warriors, the kings of old. Let it fuel you forward, into a future that you can help make brighter.
Let it burn so hot that all you can do is push forward relentlessly, madly in love with the fire in your soul that calls you to create, to live fearlessly, and devote your life to action.
